Mathias Rushin is a multidisciplinary artist working in photography, digital media, hair design, drawing, and sculpture. His work explores identity, tension, and the uncanny, shaped by his experiences as a multiracial, queer person with learning differences. Influenced by sci-fi, horror, internet, and gay cultures, he blends rigid, masculine forms with soft, feminine materials to challenge stereotypes and explore the fluidity of self. Beyond the studio, Rushin is a creative director, community organizer, and event planner with a strong background in marketing experimental nightlife events that center queer Black expression. During his 2024–2025 residency at Brew House Arts, he expanded his focus on corporeal sensation, power, and performance through new visual and material investigations.
